Chapter One :Chapter 1

"How long do you really expect me to wait? Until the child is born?"

"Melissa, don't be angry, you're pregnant, getting angry will harm your health..."

"This is your last chance! If you don't divorce that wench, I will abort your son!"

"Alright, alright! I will divorce her tomorrow! I promise! Darling, don't get angry because of that woman."

Charlotte stood by the roadside, watching her husband, Ethan, tugging with a young woman.

She was vividly aware of their conversation.

Prior to this, she had always believed she had a perfect marriage, a husband who cherished her.

She never thought the truth would be so unbearable.

Charlotte coldly watched her husband and the mistress approaching her.

How hilarious, the entangled pair didn't even notice her existence.

"Lottie?" Ethan was the first to see Charlotte, his eyes popping in surprise.

Charlotte gave a cold smile.

Ethan appeared flustered, his face paled, he hurriedly rushed forward, "Lottie, let me explain..."

"Slap!"

His response came in the form of a resounding smack in the face!

With this slap, Charlotte mustered all her strength, her palms were burning with pain.

Ethan was dazed by the slap.

However, Melissa suddenly lunged forward, pushing Charlotte away, "How dare you lay a hand on him? You crazy woman!"

Caught off guard, charlotte stumbled and fell backward.

"Watch out! A car!" Ethan cried out in surprise.

However, it was too late. Amidst the screeching sound of brakes, Charlotte was hit by an SUV.

"Damn it!"

Alexander cursed under his breath, hastily unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out.

Driving along smoothly, he hadn't expected someone to dart out into the road.

Maintaining his composure, Alexander briskly walked to the front of the car. Dressed in immaculate military attire, his face was stern and resolute.

Struggling to sit up after being hit, Charlotte's long and tidy hair came undone, her delicate face full of defiance.

The pain was so intense that she bit her lower lip until it bled. She had to endure, not give those despicable people the satisfaction of her suffering.

"You..." Alexander began to speak, but upon seeing Charlotte's face, he abruptly stopped speaking, his tall body stiffened. It turned out to be... her!

"Are you okay? Where are you hurt?" Alexander crouched down in front of her, his voice filled with deep concern.

Charlotte lifted her head, only to see her husband standing rooted to the spot, at a loss for what to do. And the other woman, still clinging to his arm, was smirking provocatively at her.

Charlotte scoffed and harshly brushed off Alexander's aid. "I'm fine! I won't die!"

The stubborn expression on her face made Alexander's heart tighten and his brow furrow. After a moment, he extended his hand and grabbed her arm, "I'm taking you to the hospital!"

"I told you I'm fine, I won't go..."

Charlotte tried to shake off his hand from her arm, but as she moved, a drilling pain shot through her right leg which made her let out a light gasp.

Alexander's brow furrowed even more. How could she possibly be okay if she was in such pain? She's truly stubborn.

Charlotte pressed a hand on her right leg while supporting herself with the other, and tried to force herself to stand. No matter how unbearable it was, no matter how helpless she was, she didn't want to show such a scene in front of these two.

No sooner had she moved a bit than she found herself suddenly weightless in the air - it turned out Alexander just picked her up from the ground.

When Charlotte reacted, she was about to struggle, but a threatening voice from the man stopped her: "Don't move! Unless you want to be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life."

Charlotte paused and stopped struggling.

Seeing Alexander carrying Charlotte to the car, Ethan finally recovered from the shock. He was about to step forward when Melissa held him back: "What are you doing?"

"She seems to be injured." Ethan furrowed his brow.

Melissa scoffed, "Aren't you trying to divorce her? What does her getting hurt got to do with you?"

Inside the car, Charlotte coldly watched the scene outside.

At that moment, a tall figure blocked her view. She looked up to see Alexander's stern and resolute face.

From her perspective, she could perfectly see his clean-cut jawline. Oddly enough, it gave her a sense of familiarity.

The cold and domineering officer, it seemed she had seen him somewhere before.

The off-road vehicle headed straight for the military hospital; throughout the journey, Charlotte remained silent.

As soon as the car parked in the hospital parking lot, a young man dressed in a military uniform ran over. As Alexander got out of the car, the young man gave him a standard military salute with a crisp sound, "Hello, Commander!"

"Hmm." Alexander nodded slightly, turned around to open the passenger door, and carried Charlotte out of the car.

The young soldier immediately came forward, wanting to take over Charlotte, "Commander, allow me."

Alexander glanced at him, bypassed the young soldier, and proceeded, "No need, I got it."

Even while carrying Charlotte, his steps were steady and fast.

The young soldier had no choice but to run to catch up, stealing curious glances at Charlotte when Alexander wasn't looking.

Having served the commander for three years, the soldier knew of his frigid demeanor. The commander hardly said a word to women, let alone carry one!

A woman whom he would carry must be no ordinary woman.

Being a doctor herself, Charlotte knew that this military hospital was the best in the city.

What surprised her was, they didn't have to wait at all. They went straight into the consultation room upon arrival.

The doctors who received them were all very respectful.

Clearly, this man carried a lot of weight.

From beginning to end, Alexander didn't say much to Charlotte, but he took very good care of her.

The young soldier followed behind, increasingly perplexed. Weren't there wheelchairs in the hospital? Why was the commander constantly carrying her?

Unable to stop himself, he stealthily glanced at Charlotte a few times. He had to admit, the commander's taste was pretty good. This girl was really beautiful, though a bit too slender, making her appear frail and vulnerable in the commander's embrace.

Alexander coughed lightly, his robust figure instantly blocking the soldier's line of sight, casting him a cold glance.

Receiving his warning-filled gaze, the young soldier shivered immediately and stood straight with the standard military posture, eyes on nose and nose on heart, daring not to sneak another peek.

He was only able to breathe a sigh of relief when Alexander carried Charlotte into the examination room.

Good God, he was scared to death. He had only taken two glances at the girl and the commander looked like he was going to eat him alive. A layer of cold sweat formed on his back.

The examination results came out quickly. A mild fracture in the right leg's tibia. No surgery was required, but a cast needed to be applied.

As she had expected, the doctor immediately requested her hospitalization. Before she even had a chance to speak, she saw the young soldier rush off to handle the procedures with documents in hand.

Alexander tidied her medical report and placed it in her arms, then lifted her again.

Being carried around by a man in the hospital, Elizabeth felt quite embarrassed. After all, they were strangers who had just met. Cheeks blushing, she said, "Commander, actually, I can sit in a wheelchair."

Without taking one look at her, Alexander replied, "Wheelchairs are impractical on stairs, and elevators are too crowded. A nuisance."

Charlotte was at a loss for words. He spoke little, yet every fiber of his being exuded an undeniable sovereignty—a quiet dominance that allowed no room for defiance. There was no need for threats or commands; his mere presence demanded submission. And somehow, that unspoken power sent a shiver down her spine.
